EuroMillions is a transnational lottery launched on February 7, 2004, by La Française des Jeux (France), Camelot (United Kingdom), and Loterías y Apuestas del Estado (Spain). It was the first lottery to unite several European countries around a shared jackpot.
Over the years, EuroMillions expanded to nine participating countries: France, United Kingdom, Spain, Austria, Belgium, Ireland, Luxembourg, Portugal, and Switzerland. The format evolved in 2011, changing from 50 numbers and 9 stars to 50 numbers and 11 stars, then in 2016 to the current formula of 50 numbers and 12 stars.
The concept is simple: choose 5 numbers from 50 and 2 "star" numbers from 12. Draws take place every Tuesday and Friday evening in Paris. The minimum jackpot is €17 million and can reach a cap of €250 million.
The largest jackpot in history reached €250 million, won multiple times since the cap was raised in 2024. EuroMillions remains one of the most popular lotteries in the world, with millions of players at every draw.
